iFLY of Virginia Beach

iFLY is an indoor skydiving experience that creates true free fall conditions, just like skydiving, without having to jump out of an airplane. iFLY’s vertical wind tunnel generates 1400 horse power from 4 powerful fans, creating a wall-to-wall cushion of air on which you can safely float. There’s no parachute, no jumping, and nothing attaching you to planet Earth. It’s just you and the air, and it’s the most incredible adrenaline rush.

Anyone Can Fly!
No experience is necessary. Just about anyone can fly, including those with physical disabilities. Children as young as 3 to adults as young as 103 have flown with us. Sandbridge Welcomes Your Fur Babies

Your Pet Deserves A Vacation Too!

Pets are welcome to vacation in Virginia Beach all year long!  Why leave your precious fur baby behind when heading to your family getaway? Your pet deserves a beach vacation too! Siebert Realty has over 65 fully furnished Sandbridge vacation rentals that warmly welcomes your pets.

A record 68% of American households now own a pet. Most, by far, are dogs and cats, who are now traveling more often with their human companions.  That’s why an increasing number of vacation rentals don’t just accept pets, they downright cater to them – usually for a fee that goes toward deep-cleaning.

The entire family is welcome to vacation in Virginia Beach and that includes Fido and Whiskers too! Whether it’s romping on our 35-miles of sandy beaches, taking a doggy-paddle in the ocean or playing a little game of fetch in our off-leash dog parks, you and your four-legged companion can experience “a dog’s life” at the beach!

Pets allowed on the Beach:
During the Winter, Spring and Fall months (before Memorial Day and after Labor Day weekend) dogs are invited to enjoy the public beaches and boardwalk area anytime (on leash). However, during the Summer months, (Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend) pets are limited to frolic on the north end of Virginia Beach above 42nd Street and the south end of Virginia Beach in the Sandbridge area before 10am and after 6pm (on leash). During the Summer season, dogs are also allowed on the boardwalk from 6am to 10am only.

Luckily, the question of where to find pet-friendly beaches is much easier. Coastal communities such as Sandbridge Beach realize it’s a “win-win” as long as the human half of the equation does their homework.  That means making sure their license and vaccinations are up to date, observing leash laws and, it should go without saying but we’ll say it anyway, scooping the poop. 🙂  If you and your 4-legged buddies are traveling to a beach away from home, it’s also a good idea to attach your vacation address and contact info to their collar.

Ready to plan a fun getaway with your fur babies?  Check out the over 65 Sandbridge vacation rentals that warmly welcome pets to the beach:  http://bit.ly/2hfAFT0Read More

Little Red Mailbox

Beyond the children’s playground, past Siebert Realty‘s big, blue beach chair and down the wooden plank walkway by the fishing pier in Sandbridge’s Little Island State Park is The Little Red Mailbox, where anyone can “Leave a Note of Hope.” Alongside the windswept dunes and ocean, The Little Red Mailbox has served as a way to reconcile losses with heartfelt messages for anyone to read. Inside the mailbox is a pen and journals, filled with inspirational entries or drawings to bring a smile to the face of anyone who could use a little uplifting.

The mailbox, painted red by Outer Banks artist Vicki Horning, was established on March 5, 2017 by Daniel’s Grace, a Virginia Beach-based nonprofit helping to support families stricken with cancer.  Jodi Newland, owner of Sweetwater Cuisine in Virginia Beach, founded the organization, Daniel’s Grace Foundation, after losing her husband Daniel to colon cancer at the age of 32.

The goal of The Little Red Mailbox of Hope is to spread hope, love, and expression through the journal that is inside.  The Founder, Sue Goodrich said, “It’s a place to share your thoughts, dreams, feelings or secrets or to just visit and read what others have left along their journey. Everybody needs a little hope, and helping others also helps ourselves.” Goodrich said the box was created as a refuge to escape daily hustle and bustle by finding peace by the sea.

The mailbox at Sandbridge is the fifth of its kind. Others are located in Buxton, N.C., Mechanicsville, Va. and Johnstown, Pa., with the first being founded in Kill Devil Hills, N.C. by resident Sue Goodrich.

Annual Boardwalk Art Show

Boardwalk Art Show   June 15th – 18th

Come join us for the 62nd Annual Boardwalk Art Show and have a fun time with family and friends while enjoying fine art, great food and live entertainment.

The Boardwalk Art Show is hosted by the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. MOCA is a non-profit, non-collecting institution, which means the artwork in the galleries changes every 3-4 months.

It’s main mission is to promote exploration and understanding of the significant art of our time.  So while you won’t see Old Masters at the art show or museum, you’re guaranteed to see something cutting edge and different! MOCA also offers a variety of educational programs and classes for the community.

Proceeds from this event directly support the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and help fulfill our mission to provide thought-provoking art exhibitions and children’s art education programs. In the last decade, MOCA has provided exposure to the arts to over 100,000 children in Hampton Roads.

This year join us on the boardwalk to meet amazingly talented artists and see their work up close. While here, join in the fun at Family Fest or at the Beer Garden and enjoy live entertainment throughout the weekend. If you’re looking for a special treat, purchase tickets to the Boardwalk Beach Club for a catered lunch, valet parking, private bathrooms and open bar. Whatever your interest, you’ll have a great time in Virginia Beach this Father’s Day weekend.

Sandbridge Shelling

Seashells… Down by the Seashore
“One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few. One moon shell is more impressive than three. There is only one moon in the sky.” – Anne Morrow Lindbergh, ”Gift From the Sea”

One of the most relaxing pastimes at the beach is to clear your mind, stroll slowly with loved ones along the shoreline, while gathering seashells on the beach. Sandbridge is the perfect place for shelling offering a quiet, secluded 5 mile stretch of beach to explore. The casual shell collector can enjoy shelling year round… even during the off season. Here are a few tips to make your shelling expedition even more fun:

Best Times to go Shelling:
Experts tell us that low tides, and the times of the new moon and the full moon, bring the best shells. If you visit immediately after a storm, you’ll find that the rough waves and strong currents will dislodge shells in shallow water and toss them onto the beach.

What To Bring for Shelling:
If you’re going to do any serious shell collecting, be sure to bring a strong mesh or canvas bag to carry your finds — shells can get heavy very quickly. You’ll want to bring along water and sun protection, as well as your basic beach gear. It helps to bring along lightweight beach or water shoes to protect your feet so you can explore areas along the tide line where shells are arranged in thick bands.

What Shells to Collect:
Keep in mind that an inhabited seashell is a sea creature’s home! Please don’t remove an occupied seashell, or live starfish, from the beach. If you find you’ve picked one up, don’t throw it into the water – place it gently down to avoid damage. Abandoned seashells, of course, are fair game. You’ll find beautiful ones in gently-used condition along the coast.Read More
