Coastal Virginia at the Origins of America
As America prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence, few places can tell the nation's story quite like the shores of Virginia, and we here in Sandbridge have a front-row seat to that legacy.

Long before the United States became the nation we know today, this coastline helped lay its very foundation. In 1607, English settlers made landfall at Cape Henry in present-day Virginia Beach before pushing inland to establish Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in America. Those same shores would soon help shape the future of self-governance: the House of Burgesses, born from this region's colonial roots, planted some of the earliest seeds of representative democracy in the New World.
When the fight for independence came, coastal Virginia once again proved essential. In 1781, the Battle of the Capes off Cape Henry secured the Chesapeake for American forces, paving the way for the decisive victory at Yorktown. Without these waters, America's path to freedom may have looked very different.

The region's influence didn't stop there. Hampton Roads continued to shape the nation for centuries to come, from the Civil War's Battle of the Monitor and Merrimack where ironclad ships transformed naval warfare forever, to Naval Station Norfolk becoming a cornerstone of American defense, to Langley Research Center pioneering advances in aviation and space exploration that carried American ambition beyond our shores.

Then came a quieter, but no less meaningful, chapter. Beginning in the 1960s, families began discovering Sandbridge as a place apart. Tucked away from the bustle of the main Virginia Beach strip, this stretch of coastline offered something rare: room to breathe, room to play, and a place to return to year after year. Siebert Realty was there from the start.

Founded in 1962, we grew steadily alongside the community we called home, and in 1980, Jack and Jean Siebert formalized that commitment by rebranding the company around a simple but enduring mission: create great memories for guests and deliver excellence for property owners.

Over the decades, we have grown into the oldest and largest vacation rental company in Sandbridge, but the heart of the business remains the same. We are a family company built on the belief that a vacation should be more than just a place to stay. Generation after generation of families have made Sandbridge their own through Siebert, returning summer after summer and passing the tradition down to their children and grandchildren. From modest beach cottages to grand oceanfront homes, we are proud to help families find their place on this remarkable stretch of shore.

Today, Sandbridge and the greater Virginia Beach coastline offer more than breathtaking beaches and cherished family traditions. They are part of the same historic shoreline where America's story first began. As we celebrate 250 years of the United States, we also celebrate the remarkable role this coastal region played in founding a nation, defending its freedoms, and inspiring its future. And for the families who have made Sandbridge their own over the past six decades, that story feels very personal.

We are proud to call it home, and proud to share it with you.
