Sandbridge is a great destination for pet lovers, with plenty of opportunities for walks, outdoor adventures, and beach fun. During the off-season—before Memorial Day and after Labor Day—dogs are welcome on Virginia Beach’s public beaches and boardwalk anytime when leashed.

During the summer season, dogs are permitted on the Sandbridge beach before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. when leashed. Dogs may also enjoy the Virginia Beach Boardwalk from 6–10 a.m.

A Few Pet-Friendly Tips

Before heading to the beach, make sure your pet's license and vaccinations are up to date, follow all leash regulations, and always clean up after your furry friend. It's also a good idea to add your vacation address and contact information to your pet's collar.

Another one-acre fenced dog park, open from 7:30 a.m. until sunset. A $5 annual fee and proof of license and vaccination are required. Children must be at least 8 years old to enter.
